An elderly woman and her grandson were found dead at a home in Livermore Thursday evening in what is being considered a possible murder-suicide, police said today.

Police responded at about 7:25 p.m. Thursday to a report of two people found dead inside a home in the 600 block of Canterbury Avenue.

Friends of the family said they had gone to the house to visit and check on the elderly woman and her grandson. They entered to find the woman dead from an apparent gunshot wound to the head, and the grandson was also found dead from an apparent gunshot wound to the head, police said.

The names of the woman and grandson are not yet being released.

The case is being investigated as a possible murder-suicide, police Sgt. Brian Martinez said.

"Nothing's been determined, but we're going to look at that angle," Martinez said.
