The victim, who has not been identified, was found suffering from gunshot wounds at about 4:55 p.m. at Story Road and East Capitol Expressway, Officer Jose Garcia said. He appears to have been between 18 and 20 years old.
The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Garcia said.
He said Story Road was blocked in both directions as of about 11 p.m. between Galahad Avenue and East Capitol Expressway while police investigate the shooting.
Motorists were asked to avoid the area.
