In March, the Center for Investigative Reporting analyzed data from the Department of Veterans Affairs and found the number of veterans waiting more than a year for their benefits had increased more than 2,000 percent under President Barack Obama.

Since then, the average wait for veterans in the Bay Area has dropped from 16 months to just five.
