Pedestrian killed in accident in Fremont

FREMONT, Calif.

Just before 6 a.m. a Corvette hit a pedestrian in the crosswalk on Washington Boulevard and Olive Avenue. It was a scene that was even tough for emergency responders to see.

"This is a really horrific incident today. The body was badly injured and obviously pronounced dead on scene immediately," said Fremont Police spokeswoman Geneva Bosques.

Police say the driver of the Corvette did not see the woman and was cooperating with investigators.

In November 2011, a 73-year-old woman was also hit and killed in this same intersection.

The driver is not expected to face any charges.
