Police arrest three after high-speed chase

SAN JOSE, CA

The suspects, two men and a woman, were arrested and booked Friday night on charges of vehicle theft and evading police, Sgt. Mike Sullivan said.

At around 10 p.m. police received reports of a carjacking in the 5600 block of Lathrop Drive, Sullivan said. The victim reported that three suspects held him at knifepoint while they stole his green Toyota Echo.

San Jose police K-9 Officer Glen Albin saw the vehicle at Bascom Avenue and state Highway 85 a short time later and alerted other authorities. He began to follow the car, which sped east on Highway 85.

The suspects drove north on Interstate Highway 280, at which point California Highway Patrol officers joined the chase, Sullivan said.

Almost an hour later the car ran out of gas and stopped at Hickey Drive and Highway 280 in South San Francisco.
