A 15-year-old boy was walking with friends in the area of 14th Street and Phelan Avenue when he was jumped and shot by the suspect, Lt. Rick Nichelman said.
The bullet punctured and collapsed the victim's lung and his friends took him to a hospital around 9:50 p.m., Nichelman said. The boy is expected to recover.
The shooting victim was uncooperative with police but an investigation led to a search of a residence in the 2700 block of Georgia Street, Nichelman said.
The 16-year-old was arrested there for attempted murder, participation in a criminal street gang, altering the serial number of a firearm and possession of stolen property, Nichelman said.
