SF man shot while sitting in parked car

A 43-year-old San Francisco man sitting in a car parked in Richmond's Iron Triangle neighborhood this morning was struck by several bullets fired from another vehicle, according to police.

Shots were heard in the area of Fifth Street and Ripley Avenue around 12:50 a.m., Lt. Mike Gormley said. Arriving officers discovered the victim in his vehicle parked at the curb in the 600 block of Fifth Street, Gormley said.

Bullets struck the car numerous times and hit the man in the lower torso and legs, Gormley said. The man was conscious and in stable but serious condition when he was airlifted to a local trauma center.

Shots were fired from another vehicle, but a vehicle description was unknown, Gormley said.
