Northbound train No. 147 fatally struck a pedestrian at 1:15 p.m. The southbound track reopened at about 1:45 p.m. and the northbound track opened about an hour and a half later.
Both northbound and southbound trains experienced delays, however Dunn said the trains were back on schedule this afternoon.
The incident marked the ninth fatality involving a Caltrain locomotive this year. Five of those deaths have been determined to be suicides, one was unintended and the results of three, including today's, are pending, according to Caltrain.
