The five-year-old female was rescued July 7, miles from the bay, from the San Tomas Aquino Creek Aquaduct in Santa Clara County.
The sea lion was malnourished, but was otherwise doing fine, until Friday when it began suffering seizures.
Vetrinarians at the Sausalito based Marine Mammal Center said the seizures were linked to a previously undiagnosed toxic algae infection.
