Shelter in place lifted for SF gas leak

SAN FRANCISCO

A water crew working at Mariposa and Hampshire Streets accidentally hit a natural gas line Friday morning.

The spewing gas spread quickly and authorities issued the shelter in place order as a precaution. Police closed the intersection while waiting for PG&E crews to arrive.

PG&E workers shut off the gas as soon as they got to the scene. They're now trying to repair the damage to the line.
