The fire was reported at 9:40 p.m. in a three-unit building at 1655 York St. and controlled by 10:45 p.m., fire Lt. Mindy Talmadge said.
A civilian and a firefighter were sent to the hospital with minor injuries and another firefighter was also injured but did not go to the hospital, Talmadge said.
The flames started in the basement and apparently traveled through the ventilation pipes, skipping the second floor and engulfing the to the top floor.
One family was not home and the other occupants were able to evacuate, she said.
The cause is under investigation.
