The Republican presidential candidate is again focusing his efforts today on Ohio, where he told a rally that Obama is "more liberal than a senator who calls himself a socialist." That's a reference to Vermont's Sen. Bernie Sanders, who's listed as an independent.
In an interview with ABC's "Good Morning America" earlier, McCain charged that Obama's economic policy is "from the far left," while McCain's own policy "is in the center."
McCain aides acknowledge that with 20 electoral votes at stake, Ohio is central to the Republican's chances of victory. Recent polls have shown McCain trailing there.
Later today, McCain is to appear in Columbus with California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger. In an interview with the Columbus Dispatch published today, Schwarzenegger says while it will be "a major struggle" for McCain to win the election, he's seen him come back before "when everyone counted him out."
