The center had fallen on hard times recently and has been working on a new financial plan.
"The current economic crisis has made it difficult to obtain capital and applied additional pressure to our financial turn-around announced earlier this year," Copia's interim chief executive Garry McGuire said . "Temporarily suspending Copia's operations will protect the interests of our employees by securing their wages while we negotiate a go-forward plan."
Copia is expected to make a statment about its future and a possible date for reopnening after Thanksgiving.
