Tips for a stress free afternoon

SAN FRANCISCO

People who get a little crazed at the end of the work day are in good company.

"Typically the end of the day can be a really stressful time. Chances are you're leaving work, maybe picking up kids, trying to think of what you'll make for dinner that night," said Janet Siroto, Good Housekeeping.

So build extra time in your schedule so traffic and other delays won't leave you frantic. Give yourself an extra ten minutes to get from point a to point b.

"If you leave your office at 5:30 everyday, plan your day with an expectation of everything being completed by 5 so that whatever else happens, you have that half- hour cushion," said Laurie Puhn, Author, "Instant Persuasion."

Consider moving evening chores like paying bills or mopping the floor to the morning.

You can also triple all your recipes and cook only every third night. Freeze what you won't eat.

"One other suggestion - work on your timing; figure out when you have to get the kids in bed, then work backwards from there - calculating what time you need to finish dinner and what time the food needs to get on the table.
