Slocum to blog about Inauguration Day

"I'm very excited," Slocum said about attending the inauguration of President-elect Barack-Obama. "It's going to be historic, and I hope to share some of my impressions with all the people who couldn't get to Washington."

Slocum said he plans to write "short and sweet kinds of entries" that can be no more than 140 characters, called "Tweets," at least every half hour.

He said he will update his blog, which will contain more thoughtful and articulate entries, about once a day.

"Twitter is going to be what I'm doing throughout the day; where I am, what I'm doing, and who I'm seeing," Slocum said.

"The blog is going to be the more narrative sort of content; how this is striking me to be a part of history, and the sights and passions that you feel from the crowd," he said.

Slocum said he will attend the inauguration with an old friend who has been going to presidential inaugurations since he was 5 years old. "His parents would literally drag him to the events" when he was a child, Slocum said of his friend, who is now in his 50s.
