Newsom hopeful Prop 8 will be overturned

Newsom says he watched a good portion of the arguments this morning and while he says it wouldn't be prudent to make a prediction, he liked what he heard.

"I think it's reassuring based on the arguments and the questions, is that the 18,000 marriages look increasingly intact, and I'm certainly hopeful based on the flavor the discussions," said Newsom.

Randy Thomasson wrote a brief to the court in support of Prop 8. He says the decision should be an easy one for the justices.

"The last word in California belongs to the people. The California constitution says its power to the people so the people are the only ones who can change the constitution and the constitution is the boss of the judges, so it's pretty open and shut case, pretty academic as an issue," said Thomasson.
