Luciano Acevedo pleaded no contest to a felony hit-and-run charge On March 25.
Acevedo was driving a truck in Salinas in the morning on Aug. 28, when he rear-ended Jaime Juarez, who was on a motorcycle. Acevedo fled the scene, parked the truck, and walked back to tell police another person committed the crime, according to the district attorney's office.
Juarez died from the injuries.
Shortly after the crash at Sanborn Road and Acosta Plaza, Acevedo admitted to the crime.
Acevedo was also sentenced to three years of formal probation.
