Authorities responded at about 5:15 p.m. to a report of a child that had fallen into a hot tub at the Villa Alvarado complex in the 34200 block of Arizona Street, according to the coroner's bureau.
Union City police officers arrived and attempted CPR, and the Union City Fire Department arrived and took over advanced lifesaving efforts, according to police.
The 2-year-old boy was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.
