Units from the East Bay Regional Parks District and the CHP received a 911 call from Briones Regional Park just before 10 p.m., according to the CHP. The call came from the cell phone of one of two women who reported being unable to find their way out of the park after sunset.
A CHP rescue helicopter was dispatched to assist parks district officers in locating the two hikers, who were reportedly on a remote trail surrounded by trees and inaccessible by vehicle.
After a 10-minute search, the helicopter found the women and performed a rescue landing on the trail to fly them to safety, according to the CHP.
No injuries were reported from the search and rescue operation.
