This is the first stimulus-funded modernization project for BART to get underway.
"We really want to continue that tradition of fine architecture and see if we can not only reveal the clever architecture here, but enhance it in everything we do," said BART Board Director Tom Radulovich
When finished, the station will be equipped with new fare gates and ticket vending machines.
It will also have state of the art security cameras, modern lighting and a wider pathway to accommodate disabled passengers.
