Max was found in Phoenix, Arizona, nearly 600 miles from his home near Fresno.
The long-haired, year-old dachshund had escaped three previous times -- forcing his owner to get him outfitted with a microchip with his contact information.
After four months on the lam, his owner finally got the call.
"Just a couple of days ago my granddaughters comes in and says, 'Grammy, I miss Max, do you miss him, and I said yes, maybe one day I'll get a phone call and I can go get him, but I didn't know it was going to be Phoenix, Arizona," Pamela Ekizian said.
Pamela says Max's hair is a little shorter than when he left, but on the whole he is in great shape.
