Christopher Borgzinner, 18, says he was attacked on a Muni bus for wearing red tennis shoes -- the color associated with the Norteno gang.

Pictures provided by the San Francisco Chronicle show Borgzinner's bruises.

Borgzinner was riding the packed Number 9 bus through the Mission on Monday evening when it happened. Police want to see if Muni can provide video of the incident before making any arrests.

Muni's spokesman released a statement saying "We will do everything we can to help the San Francisco Police Department solve this senseless crime."

Borgzinner was treated for broken facial bones and other injuries.

He plays the character "Nacho" in the movie "La Mission," which also stars Benjamin Bratt.
