San Jose State University has found their man. Duke defensive coordinator Mike MacIntyre will take over the Spartans football program, replacing Dick Tomey, who has retired.

MacIntyre was named the 2009 National Assistant Coach of the Year. Before Duke, he had NFL experience with the Jets and the Cowboys. He recruited 49er's linebacker Patrick Willis to Ole Miss.

MacIntyre beat out a field that included 49er assistant Tom Rathman.

The official announcement is expected Thursday.
