SEIU blaming Apple for sucides in China

SAN FRANCISCO

The Service Employees International Union protested outside the Apple store in San Francisco demanding that Apple do something about the rising suicide rate at an electronics factory in China.

So far this year, ten workers have killed themselves at Foxconn's factory in Southern China. Foxconn makes iPhones, iPads, and iPods on a contract basis for Apple.

"All these Apple workers actually making Apple device is all under 25-years-old and young worker who are under a lot of pressure, and working long hours to make the quota they need to produce. It is absolutely outrageous. They need to stop it," said SIEU organizer Leon Chow.

Foxconn also makes electronic devices for Dell, Intel, HP and Nintendo.
