The fire broke out around 2 p.m. near Margarita Avenue, just east of Dominican University.
Helicopters brought in hand crews to the fire line. The flames rushed up the steep hillside, and away from homes. No structures were burned and no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
