Maria Celeste Velarde, 27, admitted to deputies that the date of birth on her driver's license was incorrect, but she then allegedly provided another false birth date, according to the sheriff's office.
It was only when deputies offered to retrieve her birth certificate from the county recorder's office that Velarde told them that she was not being truthful about her age, sheriff's officials said.
Velarde was subsequently arrested and also found to be in possession of two counterfeit checks worth a total of almost $1,000.
