Firefighters received a call at 4:22 a.m. that the single-story house at 1499 S. King Road was burning, Rangel said.
The fire was controlled an hour later at 5:22 a.m., he said.
The house sustained more than $150,000 in damage, including a destroyed kitchen, hallway and living room. The garage, which had been converted into a hair and nail salon, remains intact. The fire was heaviest in the living room, Rangel said.
No one was home at the time of the fire and no one suffered injuries while fighting the blaze.
Firefighters are still investigating the cause of the fire and have been unable to contact the owners of the house, Rangel said.
