Cyclist in Santa Rosa injured in crash with vehicle

SANTA ROSA, CA

William Brown, 63, of Santa Rosa, was riding his bike west on the right shoulder of River Road west of Fulton Road around 3:10 p.m., CHP Officer Jonathan Sloat said.

Clements Boylan, 74, of Freestone, was driving a 1994 Lexus east on River Road and began turning left into the parking lot of the Fruit Basket fruit stand when he struck Brown, Sloat said.

Boylan said he did not see Brown before the collision, Sloat said.

Brown suffered serious injuries that are not life threatening when he was thrown up and over the hood of the Lexus, Sloat said.

Brown was wearing a helmet that helped him avoid serious head injuries, Sloat said. He was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.
