Suspects wanted after two shot in Berkeley

BERKELEY, Calif.

Investigators spent all morning talking to witnesses. They are not saying how many shots were fired, but evidence markers on the scene show homicide detectives circled at least half a dozen bullet holes.

Shortly after the incident, authorities received a number of 911 calls. One person who called said there was a man down and when officers arrived, they found two mail victims lying down on the sidewalks. They were both taken to a local hospital and one of the men died upon arrival.

Police are investigating the motive of the shooting but they are saying it was not a drive-by.

"This is quite unusual for this community so early in the morning, particularly concerning that there were community members going to school and going to work," Sgt. Mary Kusmiss from Berkeley Police said.

Police are looking for one or possibly two suspects who ran away after the shooting through the laundromat's parking lot. They are also searching for witnesses and they hope to have leads based on the surveillance video that they plan to collect later in the afternoon.
