Davis Paul and Demitrius Omphroy decided to make a music video of Chris Brown's song "For Ur Love" while driving to Oregon for a soccer game.
"We were bored in the back of the bus and decided I could take video on my iPhone and the next thing you know, we just started shooting things," said Cal student Davis Paul.
They had no idea what would happen once they posted it on YouTube. At last check, more than 110,000 people have watched it.
"People from the U.K. were like Facebook friending us, every single country that Chris Brown is popular in, it was non-stop," says Cal student Demitrius Omphroy.
The video's biggest backer is the artist himself. Two days after it hit YouTube, Brown posted a link to the video on his Twitter page.
"When you click on it, it goes straight to our video," says Omphroy.
"Viral videos, it's like there's no rhyme or reason to the success that it has. All it takes is Chris Brown tweeting it," says Paul.
The video won YouTube's most entertaining video of the week award in Australia. Now Apple wants to meet with the soccer players to talk about a national iPhone 4 video campaign. The college seniors are trying to be modest.
"This is actually a fan page a random girl from Poland made for me," says Omphroy.
The video -- which took just an hour and a half make -- was supposed to simply be a keepsake of the players' final year in college.
