The 13-year-old has been feeding Oakland's hungry ever since and today, hundreds of volunteers joined Mikey at a West Oakland park to hand out a special holiday meal to the people who need it most.
"I said I wanted to feed the homeless because what the family gave to me, I can't give back to them. So I pay it forward by giving them what they need," Carraway said.
On this day, there is even more to be thankful for. Two days ago, Mikey heard for the very first time from the family of his organ donor. His name was Johnny, he was 18 from Southern California and he died in a motorcycle crash. The two families hope to meet soon.
