The Oakland Zoo is celebrating a new birth. It is the first wallaroo birth at the zoo in over a decade.

Wallaroo babies are called Joeys. The newborn came out of his mother's pouch Monday. He was born in mid-August, but, this is the first time we're seeing him.

The newborn develops further inside its mother's pouch and will not leave or make an appearance until it is six to eight months old.

Joeys are born about the size of a kidney bean.
