The Oakland Tribune reports that the school district plans to spare more than 80 percent of the full-time positions that faced elimination. Now, only 35 kindergarten through 12th grade jobs could be slashed because of budget cuts.
About a dozen teachers without proper certification to teach English learning students will also receive layoff notices.
