Concord could begin fining truant students

CONCORD, Calif.

The curfew would apply to all students during regular school hours. If students are not in class and are caught in a public place, they could be fined as much as $500 depending on the amount of times they were caught.

The parents of the students could also be fined if they know their children skipped school.

Some exceptions would apply, such as students running an errand for a parent or dealing with an emergency.
