Police were chasing a man wanted for car theft and several violent crimes. He took off on city streets in Oakland for a time, before going west in the eastbound lanes of I-580 against traffic.
The CHP says the driver got off at the Grand Avenue on-ramp into a neighborhood and that's when the CHP lost him. He apparently dumped the car on Broadmoor Boulevard and now police are searching for him in the area of Broadmoor and Durant.
There have been no injuries reported related to the chase.
