Three 10-minute closures will occur between 6:30 a.m. and 8 a.m. on Highway 101 in both directions near Mountain View's Rengstorff Avenue exit, according to the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority.
The closures will allow preliminary work to proceed as part of the freeway's auxiliary lanes project, which aims to improve traffic congestion by adding auxiliary lanes and extending existing some high-occupancy lanes along Highway 101 between state Highway 85 and the Embarcadero Road interchange in Palo Alto.
During the closures, existing utility lines will be relocated, weather permitting, according to the VTA.
The VTA is responsible for congestion management issues in the county, as well as for bus, light rail and paratransit operations.
The California Highway Patrol is expected to be present to help direct traffic during the closures.
