Five friends and a goat arrived in the Windy City Monday after walking 1,300 miles from Mesa, Arizona. Their goal is to raise money for a cancer center and crack the curse the owner of the "Billy Goat Tavern" placed on the Cubs in 1945.
Cubs fans appreciate the effort and support the cause, but most don't buy the idea of a curse. "All the praying, everything I've done, nothing has worked. Lighting candles, nah. I don't believe in our curse," one fan said. "Forget the goat. Bring me a clean-up hitter and a good pitcher and I think we'll do alright," said another.
The Cubs are 1-0 since the goat arrived.
The team is expected to make a donation. So far, the guys have raised about $20,000 of their $100,000 goal.
