The Santa Rosa Press Democrat reports: The Russian River Watershed Protection Committee took officials to court saying the study being used to evaluate a sand bar near Jenner is flawed.
The group said it did not take into consideration how water quality is impacted by low flows in the Russian River and the breaching of the sand bar which locals are concerned might cause flooding.
Environmental groups want the river to flow through to the ocean, even in low flow years to allow endangered salmon a route to their natural spawning waters upstream.
