Data shows wealthy more likely to vote Republican

The numbers show people earning at least $100,000 a year vote more often and tend to vote for Republicans. Census data from the 2008 presidential election shows 80 percent of those who made at least $100,000 a year voted.

Political scientists suggest the gap has to do with how much voters feel they have at stake and how much they feel their vote will actually influence change.
