Redwood City residents face third garbage rate hike

REDWOOD CITY, Calif.

Our media partner, the San Jose Mercury News, reports that garbage bills in Redwood City could go up by three percent if the city council approves a proposal later this month.

Under the new rate proposals, the typical monthly bill for 32 gallon bins would go up 79 cents to $27.30.

There will be a public hearing on February 25 followed by a vote. And if the council approves the rate increase, it would go into effect the next day.

The city raised rates by 7 percent last year and 18 percent the year before.
