Supporters make final push to save Rio Theater

MONTE RIO, Calif.

The Rio Theater is from another time, and that's part of the problem. The major studios have announced that they are going to stop releasing new movies on film, a move that is forcing small theaters around the country to purchase digital projectors. The Rio needs $60,000 if they want to keep up with the new technology.

But the theater and its supporters are not going down without a fight. They have a Kickstarter campaign that already has over $40,000 pledged to it and this Sunday will be a day of music dedicated to saving the Rio.

Ramble at the Rio: A day of music featuring West County talent. Lawn social begins at 1 p.m., concert 3 p.m. Admission: $5-$15 donation.
