The big rock called Asteroid 1998 mQE2 will make its closest approach to Earth on Friday at about 1:59 p.m. But don't worry, it's keeping a safe distance of about 3.6 million miles away, or 15 times farther away than the moon.
White House spokesman Josh Earnest was asked about the asteroid during a briefing. He says scientists have concluded the asteroid "poses no threat to planet Earth."
He added, to laughter, "I never really thought I'd be standing up here saying that."
The asteroid is believed to be nearly two miles across and even has its own moon. It's about the same size as the space rock that wiped out the dinosaurs.
