Man sustains head wounds after fight on SJSU campus

SAN JOSE, Calif.

University police Capt. Frank Belcastro said today that police received a 911 call from witnesses who reported that there had been a fight that left a victim with a head wound just after 8:30 p.m.

The victim was on the sidewalk by the science building on Fourth Street, Belcastro said. The victim never lost consciousness, and his injuries are not life-threatening, he said.

The two individuals involved in the altercation are not students, and it appears they know each other. Police believe they know who the suspect is, Belcastro said.

"This was not a random act," Belcastro said. "There is no threat to the campus community."

The cause of the fight remains under investigation.
