SFPD to have zero-tolerance Monday at 'The Stick'

SAN FRANCISCO

Police Chief Greg Suhr has gone over the security plan with his staff. Police expect fans to be exuberant as they say goodbye to the stadium, but they'll have zero-tolerance for rowdiness or for drunk fans.

Police say fans can expect 50 percent more officers at this game than a regular night game. "We're going to have more police officers on Monday night than have probably ever been at Candlestick since it opened in 1971," Suhr said.

Officers will be keeping an eye out for screwdrivers and other tools. Fans trying to steal a piece of The Stick as a memento will be arrested.

The 49ers will have a special tribute during halftime of the game for the officers who have patrolled Candlestick on game days.
