Brandon Coleman, 10, got a special commendation and a Berkeley police badge pin for his actions.
Police say they had been searching for the missing man for six hours. Brandon and his mom thought they spotted him on Broadway in Oakland but when Brandon's mom asked the man if he was lost, he said, "No."
She was going to give up, but Brandon insisted it was him and told her to call the police.
Police say Brandon's insistence helped them reunite the man with his family.
