SAN RAFAEL, Calif. (KGO) -- A grass fire broke out early Sunday morning off Kerner Boulevard in San Rafael in an area burned by similar fires recently.
Fire officials say this fire is linked to a homeless encampment.
The fire department tweeted photos of the scene.
The Marin Independent Journal reports the area saw two other brush fires on Thursday and about a dozen more over the past year.
There's tall pampas grass in the area that's highly flammable.
The fire chief says a control burn is being planned for the area that is overgrown with the invasive grass.
