Super Bowl may be the best time to purchase new TV

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- There are 68,500 seats in Levi's Stadium, so it doesn't take a mathematician to figure out that means most people will be watching the Super Bowl on TV. In fact, this may be the best time to buy a new TV even if you're not planning to watch the game.

Forget about Black Friday. The best time to buy a TV is now and it has less to do with the Super Bowl than you might think.

"It's at the cusp, where CES just is over, there might be new technology coming out, newer models coming out for the current year," said Anthony Varghese, Magnolia at Best Buy sales manager.

The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, where makers show off their new TVs can usher in deep price cuts on last year's models just in time for game day.
