REDDING, Calif. (KGO) -- A firefighter battling the Carr Fire in the Redding area captured video of a fire whirl.
They're rare, but can happen during a powerful fire. The winds put out by the flames start to turn into vortex, carrying those flames upward into a spiral.

This one sent sparks shooting out in all directions as it towered above burned trees.
Although full containment has been achieved, firefighters will continue to patrol the fire area for several days, according to Cal Fire.
