CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, Calif. (KGO) -- A tiny Chihuahua rescued from the center divider of I-680 has been reunited with the two little girls who own her.
Charm was spotted last Friday frightened and shivering on I-680 in Walnut Creek. A California Highway Patrol officer managed to rescue the dog and it was taken to the Contra Costa County Animal Care shelter in Martinez.
It turns out Charm escaped from her backyard near the freeway. Her family has been posting photos of their lost dog to Instagram for days and Thursday they had a tearful reunion.
The girls thanked the animal control and CHP officers who rescued Charm with handmade thank you notes.
