SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Chinatown residents and organizations met Wednesday to draw attention to pedestrian safety in San Francisco. The gathering follows the death of an elderly woman who was struck and killed by a car last month.
78-year old Pui Fong Yim Lee was hit at the intersection of Stockton and Sacramento streets. The driver is charged with vehicular manslaughter.
Her son can't believe she's gone.
"I am still hoping this is just a nightmare. She used to call us every day to say don't sleep too late, exercise, eat right," says Geen Lee.
She was the 13th pedestrian fatality in San Francisco this year. Stockton Street is considered one of the city's most dangerous streets for pedestrians.
